Wolf Graf von Schwerin has covered a wide range of intellectual property issues in his career. In the more than 25 years he has been practicing law, he has worked on a remarkable variety of cases in patent and utility model law, trademark law, design and unfair competition law as well as copyright law, particularly in forensic issues. Graf Schwerin was also frequently involved in published decisions, including some of fundamental significance.

As a litigator in cases of technical property rights his outstanding experience extends to practically all fields, including in particular biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, medical technologies and data communication. Special focus is his involvement in international disputes and proceedings on standard-relevant patents.He is also experienced in alternative dispute resolution proceedings.

Background

Wolf Graf von Schwerin studied law in Muenster. After receiving his license to practice law in 1987, he started his work in Muenster. In 1988, he joined Krieger Mes, a prominent firm in Duesseldorf, where he was Partner since 1995. He was admitted to the bar of the Duesseldorf Court of Appeals in 1999, thus his specialization in appeals law. He started working at the former Wildanger & Kehrwald in 2001, which then changed its name to Wildanger Kehrwald & Graf von Schwerin.

Wolf Graf von Schwerin belongs to the German Association for Intellectual Property and Copyright (GRUR) (where he is a member of the specialist committee for patent law), German group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights (AIPPI), European Patent Litigation Lawyers Association (EPLAW), German Association of Intellectual Property Professionals (VPP), Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) and American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).

He also lectures and had been the co-author of the “Muenchener Prozessformularbuchs zum Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz” on Utility Model Law (until 2020), published by C.H. Beck Verlag. He also lectured on the same field as part of the Faculty of Law at the University of Düsseldorf for many years.
